Spanish fan    .061

Sterling silver, Stainless steel, Ebony, Mahogany and Pyrex glass.

10” x 14” x 10”.       Completed

Spanish fan was made as a wedding present to my sister. The hand crank manipulates an fly wheel with a cam that pulls the two halfs of the fan form the bottom to join at the top with the two hearts coming together in the end. The piece is made from sheet sterling hand cut with silk laminated on the back of the cut outs. the other pieces are carved and cast wax in sterling silver. I wanted to bring a bit of color into my work at this point and this was the perfect melding of silver and color, with the addition of the silk.
